Repair and Service

If your trailer isn’t working, you’re not making money. We help with:

Electrical and power issues
Leaks and water damage
AC and ventilation problems
Hood, fan, and lighting issues
Minor fabrication and structural repairs

We repair trailers whether we built them or not, and we offer on-site service in San Antonio and surrounding areas when possible.

Renovations and Upgrades

Sometimes a new trailer isn’t the smartest move. We can often get you further by improving what you already have:

Full interior remodels
Layout changes and workflow improvements
New hood and equipment setups
Converting “cheap shells” into real commercial kitchens

If your current trailer is holding you back, we can help you decide whether to renovate or start over.

When it truly makes sense to build new, we offer standard 8.5'-wide concession trailers in four core sizes:

Our Story

Alamo Food Trailers was built the hard way, not in a boardroom.

After losing his job during COVID, Surgess “Surge” Santa Cruz decided to bet on himself. With no investors, no big shop, and no safety net, he built his first food trailer by hand in his backyard.

That meant learning it all:

Welding and fabrication
Electrical and plumbing
Propane systems and venting
Repairs, remodels, and full conversions

Before Alamo was ever a “builder,” it was one guy fixing and upgrading other people’s trailers so they could pass inspection and stay in business.

That repair-first mindset still drives everything we do.

Today, from our shop in Schertz, Texas, Alamo Food Trailers serves San Antonio and surrounding areas with:

Mobile repairs and emergency service
Full renovations and layout changes
Standardized, code-compliant new builds

We’re not trying to be the cheapest builder on Facebook Marketplace.
We’re here to build and repair real working kitchens that last.

1. Consultation: New Build vs. Repair/Reno

We start with a conversation:

What are you cooking?
Where will you operate?
What’s your timeline and budget?
Is a repair or renovation smarter than a new build?

If a renovation or repair can get you where you want to go faster and cheaper, we’ll tell you that instead of pushing a build.

Design, Scope & Initial Payment (50%)

If a new build really is the right move:

We help you choose from our standard 12', 16', 20' or 24' concession models.
We dial in the layout: windows, doors, equipment, storage, workflow.
We build a detailed scope and quote.

To move forward, an initial payment (usually 50–60%) is due. This:

Locks your build spot on the schedule
Covers the shell, core materials, and a portion of labor
Makes sure we’re not funding your build out of our own pocket

We don’t order shells or start fabrication until that payment is in.

3. Ordering Shell & Materials

Once your deposit and design are set, we order:

Your trailer shell from our trusted Texas manufacturer
Electrical, plumbing, AC, paneling, and finish materials

We’ll give you a realistic timeline based on shell lead times and current workload.

4. Build- Out

When your shell hits the shop in Schertz, we get to work:

Framing, walls, ceiling and floor
Electrical panel, outlets, and lighting
Plumbing and tanks
AC and windows
Interior finish and any approved extras

A progress payment (spelled out in your contract) is typically due during this phase to keep materials and labor moving.

5. Testing, Walkthrough & Final Payment

Before you ever hook up and drive away, we:

Test electrical, plumbing, AC and (when applicable) propane/hood
Check doors, windows, seals, and structure
Clean the interior so you see it how your customers will

Then we do a walkthrough (in person or virtual):

You see the trailer, ask questions, and note any small adjustments
We button up those items
You pay the final balance and the trailer is officially yours

6. Pickup & Delivery

You can:

Pick up at our Schertz, TX shop with the proper tow setup, or
Ask about delivery options

Done the welding, plumbing, electrical and propane work himself
Repaired and renovated dozens of trailers that other shops wouldn’t touch
